Clinical Research / Scientific Papers

The Oncology Service members are active with clinical research and have published numerous articles in scientific journals.

Basic Research

More basic research is being conducted in conjunction with members of the Research Department at Wills Eye Hospital (Director, Dr. Larry Donoso) and the Jefferson Cancer Institute (Director, Dr. Carlo Croce), the Oncology Department at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (Director, Dr. Anna Meadows), Department of Neoplastic Diseases at Thomas Jefferson Hospital (Director, Dr. Michael Mastrangelo), Department of Radiology Oncology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (Director, Dr. Walter Curran) and the Department of RadiationOncology at Allegheny University at Hahnemann (Director, Dr. Robert Goodman). Studies on the molecular genetics of uveal melanoma and retinoblastoma are underway. Much of the funding for this research is provided by the Eye Tumor Research Foundation in Philadelphia, the Macula Foundation in New York City, The Pennsylvania Lion's Club, and the Paul Kayser Retina Research Award in Houston.
